About Connie

Connie DeBusschere is the founder of Canine Training Adventures LLC in Sweet Home Oregon and has been working with dogs for over 30 years. During this time she was an assistant dog 4H leader and assistant trainer before getting into competition. She taught classes for the Willamette Agility Group and the Linn County Kennel Club before teaching her own classes.

Connie’s attended the Association of Professional Dog Trainers conference, Oregon State University's Department of Animal Science course on Canine Behavior, Patricia McConnell behavior seminars and Pat Hasting’s Structure in Action Workshop.  Connie is committed to providing the most effective solutions to her students needs thus continues her education by attending seminars and workshops on canine behavior and force free, positive reinforcement training techniques.

Having grown up with English Shepherds, Connie is now a breeder and a huge enthusiast for the breed. She is the current President of the Versatile English Shepherd Association, one of the founders of the Versatile English Shepherd Awards Program, and hosts one of the largest English Shepherd Gatherings in the northwest.

Connie competes with her own dogs and titled them in Obedience, Agility, Barn Hunt, Herding, Conformation and Trick Dog. Connie and her English Shepherd Jasper qualified and competed at the first Agility World Championship held in the United States that was aired on Animal Planet. Jasper was also the first English Shepherd to achieve the Outstanding Versatile English Shepherd award.

Connie is a member of the Animal Behavior Association and Doggone Safe Program. She is an American Kennel Club Farm Dog Judge, Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog evaluator and soon to be a Dog Bite Safety Educator.

She believes in supporting the community and is one of the founders of the Cascade K9 Jamboree, which is a fundraising event for the Sweet Home Police Departments Drug Detection K9 Program. Connie is also working with the Sweet Home Library in bringing in the R.E.A.D program (Reading, Education, Assistance, Dogs) which is a program where kids with reading problems read to dogs.

Connie is excited to share her experience and knowledge with her students. She enjoys watching the relationship grow between her students and their dogs as they learn how to trust and communicate with each other.
